message 1: by Monty J (new)

Monty J Heying I created this topic after reading several posts by people who "just couldn't get into it" or had a strong dislike for it. Most of them were young readers, and I didn't like the book on my own first reading, when I was nineteen. Several decades later I read it with a very different experience. So I was curious as to why such divergent reactions to the story.

Kelly I am with Reese, I think this is one of the easiest books I have ever read, I can't imagine anyone having a hard time with it... I actually just read this book for the first time and it was good, but my first thought was that it was something I wished I would have read when I was a teenager. I think it is just a book that I would have enjoyed at a younger age and would have gotten more out of it at that time of my life. But Monty is definitely right as well... you read it at a different time and it gives you a different experience. Love that about books...
