yah I agree with you Val.. but I think Khaled Husseini intentionally made the character of Rasheed as it is. for me he is the reflection of majority of men in Afghanistan during that time.. That they are really like that. That is their culture and no one could question one's culture. :))
This just comes to show women still get the short end of the stick...
