No, I've found the Malazan Book of the Fallen series to be one of THE best I've found. I'd put it up there with Herbert's Dune series. The Game of Thrones books are well-done too, I have yet to read "Dance of Dragons". I'm not a fan of fast-paced books but Sanderson put me to sleep, just couldn't do it.
I just don't get people who can handle Martin's pacing but not Sanderson's. TWoK was much longer than any one aSoIaF book, but I felt that the pacing and action was much more present than in Martin's work.
I wouldn't say that you don't enjoy "High" or "Epic" fantasy, but rather that you know what pacing you enjoy, and don't prefer to budge in that department. That's cool, everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, some of the points you made against the series aren't justified.
1. Glyphs are actually a nearly complete , simple language as far as I've been able to tell. It should be sufficient to cover the needs of war.
2. Spren evolve greatly and become much less of an annoyance.
3. You've got a point here. There are reasons for it, but it does seem overused.
4. He's not going to explain a large amount of the world. He explains just enough for us to understand what's happening, but not enough that we can guess too far ahead of him. I've heard the same thing said about MBF, but I haven't started it yet, so I wouldn't know for certain.
5. The Parshendi, and the war become VERY evolved by the end of the book and the start of the next (there are pre-release chapters available).
All in all, this is probably my all time favorite book, and I like to think that I'm decently well read in the fantasy genre.
Sorry but you don't determine what is and isn't epic fantasy based on its pacing. Stop being so entitled and realise that fantasy has no rules. The main problem with Sanderson is that he makes these rules up, insinuating that if these rules aren't followed, then your world, book, ect, isn't good. This is not true in the slightest. He is overrated in many regards.
