Sumayyah Michele, thanks for your response, actually makes me feel so good that I'm not alone in my experience. I'm glad to say that it did not completely break my absolute devotion to his writing and although I was cautious when picking up his latest book, "Aleph" you must know that he COMPLETELY REDEEMED himself with this book. He went back to his usual style of writing and it was insightful and beautiful!! SO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't loose faith in his writing and definitely read 'Aleph' - I promise you will not be disappointed!

Michele Harrod Thank you! Great to know that about Aleph, I will definitely read that now! Thanks for letting me know, and yes, we will forgive him his one indiscretion to his true genre - it was probably a publisher hassling him to spit out a quick novel to meet their quotas :-)

Sumayyah I doubt it was a publisher hassling him, I would like to believe that he is the type of person who would not be influenced by monetary gains!! Although publishers can be quite hectic at times. I hope it was just him, trying something new (as we all do at times) and it did not work in his favor. So glad he realised his mistake and went back to true self :) Enjoy Aleph - please let me know how you enjoyed it :D

Michele Harrod Hahaha, I agree it wouldn't have been his choice - I have worked in the publishing and music industries in the past, so I know how nasty contracts can force the most wonderful creators into high speed turn over for the corporate office boys, (who can barely create a spreadsheet, let alone a masterpiece!) or silence them for years as bitter executives prevent them publishing under new management - terrible to see, for artists, that is like being told you can't breathe for a year. I love that the new digital world makes way for musicians and writers to publish their own work - some incredible new voices in both, who would probably never have receieved any promotion otherwise. Am very excited about this book now - have ordered it from the libary!!

Sumayyah You're so right! It is wonderful that artists are able to stay true to themselves now and do have a choice of whether to join to masses or maintain their individuality and their truth. It has allowed people to be exposed to such diversity. Enjoy, look forward to your experience of it :)
