where was Lucas? Sure he's rescued her now but hasn't Derek done that too? Scenario- she is hurting now but she's got Lucas to lean onto know... but what about him? He who has been her shoulder while Lucas was away.

Yes way? Derek has been there through all the traumas at the start of the book right until Lucas comes. That has to count for something, him still dealing with fatherly issues?
