Today I saw the adaptation you wrote about and agree with you. It was very good.
Yes I agree - is this the one with Ruth Wilson as Jane? In which case she was brilliantly cast as well.
I liked the BBC version but my favorite one has Orson Wells playing Rochester. Our local theater group did a musical of Jane Eyre, I couldn't imagine a musical let alone a play production. Enjoyed it very much, I would see it again if it were ever presented again.
Toby Stephens is my favorite EFR. No other actor was able to portray such complex character as skillfully as he did - at least to me. Ruth plays Jane brilliantly. Love the 2006 BBC version in spite of the liberties in the script.
I think it is interesting how each new movie casts a different light on her life. Although some movies have better actors or portray a more detailed or emotional side of her, I think it is good to get the true story as long as the scrippt writer doesn't fill in his/her own theory.
