"I would love to see a 'sequel' that tells the story from Ma's point of view. It would be awesome to see the contrast." I couldn't agree more. This could actually make quite the trilogy, if we were able to see what Ma was like before Room (and before Jack, of course), and then read about how the experience of Room looked from Ma's POV. I'm not usually a fan of stretching out perfectly good stand-alone books, but in this case it really would be fascinating to interrogate the subject from all of the different angles. Perhaps even from that of their captor...although that would probably be taking it too far, and too dark. I shudder to think.

Unlike Jack, mom doesn't have only one context in which she views herself. She was once a wholly-living person on the outside, and some of that returns to her immediately upon release. I think that's when she realizes that she should have prepared Jack better for a possible outcome like this, and the shift in her attitude I think is partly due to her wanting to accomplish that quickly, and partly out of guilt.
Am I disappoint in her, only because she should have done it sooner. My thoughts were, "Well, finally!"
