Rachel Skinner Yes, I desperately wanted to ask this question too! Why is it that the events of one book seem to have no bearing on the next book? I recall when Lula's Firebird was destroyed, only to have it reappear unharmed in the next book. Janet, you've hooked us with so many juicy tidbits, and one of the main reasons I keep reading subsequent books, because I keep HOPING that you'll run with some of these ideas and develop them, but I keep feeling let down.

Skye I think I've given up on any of that stuff being remembered in any future books. I'd wonder about more things, but it would only drive me crazy in the end. I've resigned myself to just reading each book on its own and even then just skimming. I can't bring myself to put a LOT of time into reading them anymore. I read enough to get the gist while hoping there's something in them to grab me and then move on to something else when it doesn't happen. I love these characters, but the books have really disappointed me since about 12, maybe even 10 or 11.

Big Otter Books And Sally Sweet! Where is he now? What a great character with lots of possibilities but he has just disappeared.

Sarah Billington I love Sally and the Moon man.

Tami Yes, bring back Sally Sweet! I think he and Grandma Mazur should go into business together.

Adrienne BookLvr: good questions... was wondering the same things myself.

BookLvr I can only assume JE writes what sounds good in the moment, but doesn't keep notes or revisit old material before moving on to the next story, forgetting what path she was steering us down. What's worse is that her publishing house doesn't catch this stuff and question her.

Sarah Billington I think this question thread and the subsequent comments will be incredibly eye-opening to her publishers and Janet herself! It's great insight into what the fans want.

BookLvr: I agree with your assessment, i don't think the author uses notes or character history either. Causing confusion sometimes form one book to the next. I think 1 through 12 is more consistent with the character history. Then it starts changing in 13 and completely lost in book 17. With a new publisher maybe they aren't aware of the character history. Or they just want to hype the books to sell them.

Sarah: I hope so, but I don't think the author will take heed. In a past interview, she stated that the discussion boards about her books were demoralizing and she said if the reader didn't like it stop reading them. I think the author is more interested in capturing the tweens and young adult market with the Plum series, I based this on the slap stick toilet humor and the poorly written stories of the past four books.
