message 1: by Janet (new)

Janet Evanovich I always write in sequence. I start with page #1 and write straight through to the end. When I'm in the planning stage of the book I begin with the characters. I go to the basic situation next. Then comes the setting. The next step is the plot line which includes the conflict and the ending of the story. For instance, I had an idea for a guy who was one step beyond Ranger. He'd be a normal guy but he'd have extraordinary abilities. I developed his character and called him Diesel. After I had the character I created a world. There would be lots of people like Diesel living among us, some good and some not so good. Diesel would go after the not so good. I wanted to place him in a town that had a history of odd behavior. Salem, Massachusetts. After I knew these things I constructed an adventure plot line.
