LiteraryMarie Yes! Books 1-12 were the best. After 13, the series went downhill and cliche.

Renee wish i didnt hear that

LiteraryMarie Oopsie.

message 4: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Yeah but it is the truth.

message 5: by Lynda (new)

Lynda I thought 13 was hilarious, but after that it seemed like the author was trying too hard for laughs. Haven't had much interest since.

message 6: by Katherine (new)

Katherine I think 13 was better than this last one. 17 was such a huge disappointment to me.

message 7: by Mara (new)

Mara I always thought the books were comedic but agree that the series went downhill sometime around book 12 or 13

message 8: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Martinez ohhh am about to start book 12 and i feel sad to hear that it goes downhill :(

message 9: by BarbaraK (new)

BarbaraK It doesn't go down hill for everyone.

message 10: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Skinner It would be great to see the books return to it's Mystery roots. After all, that is how the books are classed. Mystery with humor, not the other way around.

message 11: by Bev (new)

Bev Hmm, I have had some of our patrons comment on the fact that the ones after 13 were moreover the top then necessary.

message 12: by Karen K. (new)

Karen K. Miller I know it's different since book 13, but I still love the series. It's the only books I will buy in hardcover because I can't wait till it comes out in paperback.

message 13: by Tina (new)

Tina Foster I feel the same. If feel like the characters aren't advancing and much of the plots just show how inept Stephanie is. She still hasn't learned to keep her handcuffs on her instead of her purse, her pepper spray, etc. She never gets any smarter.

message 14: by Karen (new)

Karen Agree. The tone of the writing has changed - books 1-12 were just amazing. Books 13 + have a slapstick humor feel. I miss the good mysteries and the villains.

message 15: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Have always thought they were comedic. So! While I don't agree with the comment about the mystery vs comedy thing, I do feel like the character development isn't as deep as in the first books.

message 16: by Angela (new)

Angela This series has always been comedic, from book one. I love the humour.

message 17: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Me too. Loved the books up book 13. Read 14 but not 15, 16 or 17. even though I still buy them they just sit there. I can't bear to be disappointed. I want the books to be longer, have more plot and I want Stephanie to get older and wiser and date (or marry) Ranger. like the other people... I want more of a good cozy mystery.

message 18: by Beka (new)

Beka Yes, will the mystery plots come back in a big way? I would love that!! Mystery plus humor, not the other way around. I don't want a Three Stooges book; I want a Stephanie Plum book--accidental badass with a great posse.

message 19: by Darlene (new)

Darlene I love that there is more humor in the books! The books I remember reading the most are the ones where I laugh out loud.

message 20: by Gloria ~ (new)

Gloria ~ mzglorybe They did seem to change after 13

message 21: by BB (new)

BB Thank you for saying what I feel. The books are so cookie cutter now. Same story over and over. I LOVED her before and now I can't read them anymore. Grandma, funerals, losing the bounty guys, yada yada. Guess she still makes lots of money and changes the title

message 22: by Erica (new)

Erica I have wondered by they are located in the mystery section, There are aspects to different genres in these novels. I myself have enjoyed all the books I've read of hers new, old and her romance novels

message 23: by Genevieve (new)

Genevieve I LOVE the humor. Especially listening to Lorelei King read the story to you on CD. Keep the funny coming.

message 24: by Tracy (new)

Tracy They definitely seemed to change after 13. I haven't read one since. I even wondered if someone new started writing them, even though JE's name was still in the author position. I'm no longer a fan of the series. So sad.

message 25: by Torch (new)

Torch I love that fact that I laugh out loud while reading any of the books in the Plum Series. The news is depressing and real life can be drag so a good laugh once in awhile is healthy and good. I don't mean that I laugh at the book but story makes me laugh and adds some sunshine to my day!
