Margaret You are only on the 3rd book of 17 out so far. A lot has happened since book 3.

Renee i know, but from what ive read hear, the books arnt so great after 12. kinda disheartening.

Renee, IMO there is a distinct difference between Books 1-12 and Books 13-17. You'll have do decide how you like the entire series. For me, the series ended with Book 12. I've read Books 13-17 and I'm not a fan.

Katherine Diane - I agree!

Renee Margaret. I really wish you wouldn't have done that. Not cool at all.

Renee Diane and Katherine, thank you. I will look at those numbers while reading. I have already noticed a slight lull in book 3, but I will see. I'm not sure yet if I can really read all 17 or 18. They are kinda all alike.

Paula Fogle I love them all! The characters are laugh out loud funny and very endearing. The Stephanie Plum series is what I read for pure entertainment.

Renee Paula, I so agree. I usually never read these guilty pleasure books, but they take me somewhere else, so I'm enjoying them.

I am choosing to close my Goodreads account in protest of its handling of the Ask Janet Evanovich matter.

Yes, Goodreads posted a mea culpa on the Q&A. See: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/5.... However, it is not enough of a remedy.

Goodreads claims that had insufficiently explained the process to Ms. Evanovich, and she was operating under the impression that she could answer any 10 questions from the thread. Not being privy to their negotiations, it’s hard to dispute their claim. However, I find it unlikely that Goodreads and Ms. Evanovich and her team were not specific in agreeing to do a promotion of this kind.

I understand from Goodreads that they will not be able to get Ms. Evanovich to answer another ten questions. That is too bad, because that is exactly what they should do to fully remedy the readers for their blunder.

What is amazing to me is that Goodreads chose to accept the questions that Ms. Evanovich answered and posted them without any disclosure or qualifiers. It was obvious by glancing at the questions answers versus the top ten questions per the Readers votes that there was a disconnect between the two lists of questions.

Posting Ms. Evanovich’s responses without disclosure exhibits of a certain level of duplicity on Goodreads part that is an insult to the intelligence of the individuals who use Goodreads as a resource. For me, I can no longer view Goodreads as a credible and reliable source.

Paula Fogle So sorry that you didn't enjoy reading the answers that the author chose to answer. I found it delightful to learn more about the author's method to developing her characters and story line.

Rachel Skinner to the user who has deleted their account: couldn't have said it better. Though I am not closing my account, I won't be investing time into features run by Goodreads. I was the one that sent Patrick a complaint and within the hour he amended his blurb at the top of this Q&A feature to include the apology and inform of the 'miscommunication'. Not buying it either. Also notice how the actual Q&A page doesn't allow comments? Patrick says it must be a glitch and they'd work on it, but it's still not working. I can't help but think it's for a reason. There'd be too many complaints! It's not that I'm upset with the answers JE gave (Though some were more commentary than answers!) it's that she chose to ignore any questions which reflected frustrations of the fan. She only answered superficial questions.

message 12: by Jason (new)

Jason Bradley It seems that now that the problem has been identified that the author would come back and answer the correct questions.

message 13: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Skinner I agree Jason. After I received Patrick's reply with 'taking the blame', I wrote him again stating exactly that. Considering the several thousands hits this Q&A feature has had, that's a lot of potentially upset fans, both at JE and/or Goodreads. He never replied with a response to the suggestion that Goodreads try to remedy the situation.

Paula Fogle Geez, I thought reading J.E.'s books were moments of escape from the bickering in gov't, politics, and the problems in the world. I guess that it's infected what seemed to be a delightful opportunity to "mingle" with the author.
