My main issue with all of this is 1. Her bad attitude (like you said), and 2. The complete lack of communication. Despite her attitude and trying to guilt fans into supporting her, Rob does have some die hard fans who now have to deal with the fact that one of their favorite series ended on a cliffhanger with no guarantee of a resolution, and no one knows why. I think it's important to be honest with your fans. No one would begrudge an author time off for health/real-life reasons. We just want to know what's up. Nevermore wasn't great but I'd still like to know how it all ends, and I'll be forever bitter that I don't have an actual conclusion.
Her being like this is why I gave up on her books back when Slashback came out. A great storybuilder, but a horrible person and I cut off my support of her at that moment, which sucked because I absolutely ADORED her books to where I was praying for a movie or TV deal. If you're looking for more Cal tho, there is a person on Fanfiction.net who has like 6 fanmade Cal Leandros books, I think they pick up after Roadkill and diverge into its own storyline.
I, too, have read not just the Cal series but the Trixa and Chimera books. Honestly, I disliked Nevermore so much (I hate the "let's do Time Travel and fix all this" solution, especially at this late date in the series) that I wasn't sure I'd read the last one when it came out anyway. I read a lot of mixed reviews about Nevermore, and I'm wondering if that was a factor in the publisher cancelling, as well - I wasn't the only person who disliked where the story line and writing had gone. Still, leaving it up in the air like that and both Thurman and the publisher ignoring the readers isn't going to win anyone over. This is the 2nd series I've read where the last book was never published, and it's a lousy way to treat the people who buy books.

Agreed...it kind of seemed forced...like 'I'm under contract to write this book...' and it was starting to become repetitious. I would've been curious what direction her other series' would've gone in...but 2 books into a series doesn't really tell you much at all. I get that she probably wanted to do other things, but at the same time fans buy books and on some level you need to write to your fans. Another author I like has two main series and she never seems offended when people want to see other books in those series.
I'm with you that in a way it is a 'slap' in the face to the fans and the people who have purchased the books. At least have some respect to the fans and let them know what's going on.
I had an interaction with Rob Thurman but it was very early on around book one or two. I had emailed her and at that time she was very nice, but it was still early on. When I read her facebook post about the last book...or maybe not depending on fan response...she was very bitter and it was sad to see her not embracing her fan base and being happy that there were people out there that liked her work. I would like to see her bounce back from this...but it doesn't seem like she cares anymore, which is sad.
