Hi, Tara Thanks so much for sharing that with me/us. I can relate to the racism issue. After my dad retired from the military, we moved to a predominantly White area. I was the only African-American female in my HS graduating class. I barely dated in high school - didn't date regularly until college. Did my parents teach me not to judge? Yes, but, others are not always taught that in their homes (as your parents indicated - racism in the area and such). Since I didn't really date seriously until college, my parents rarely met the folks that I dated (I went away to school and stayed in the dormitory). In my area, there are tons of Hispanics. Yes, people make some racist comments but, they're a strong part of my area - for example, a lot of businesses are bilingual. Thanks again for sharing. Most of the folks I've dated have been African-American. I was rarely approached by a man of a different race.
