Jessica Traverson I've read Scalzi and Campbell, both started off really well and then sort of seemed to fizzle in later books. I'll have to look up Mr. Honsinger.

Martin Wassmann Know, what you mean. Honsinger isn't that different in that respect.

Well, than something more classic or a bit 'leftfield' like:
- Lois McMaster Bujold: Vorkosigan Saga https://www.goodreads.com/series/9825...
- Harry Harrison: Stainless Steal Rat Series https://www.goodreads.com/series/9458...
- Jean Johnson 'Theirs not to reason why' Series https://www.goodreads.com/series/6494...

Oh, and David Feintuch, the first 3 of the 'Seafort Saga' https://www.goodreads.com/series/4347...

Jessica Traverson I love Lois McMaster Bujold. The Vorkosigan saga is simply amazing. The characters are simply fantastic. I've got some very battered copies from when I was much younger and didn't properly take care of them. I couldn't ever get into the Stainless Steel Rat series, it was just a little too odd.
