I'm not sure how you think Allegiant was better. It was a train wreck...
Allegiant was not great either, I'm just saying that Tris should have lived and Katniss should have died...
Realistically, they both probably should have died very early on...but I felt that Mockingjay was actually coherent and much more realistic than Allegiant.
I will agree that Allegiant was pretty bad as it kind of negated the reason for everything, but were it not for the author's personal belief that to die for another person is the only way to die (which she had been setting us up for since Tris' mom and dad needlessly died... but MJ just ended so badly (WARNING SPOILER) with Prim (the entire reason for all of this) dying and then it kind just... stopped and was like so... I married Peeta and I guess I love him... I just felt like there should have been more since now it just feels like she settled.
I actually sort of appreciated the irony of Prim dying. I'm not morbid - I wasn't happy that she died (although in the book I didn't much care about her one way or the other) - I just thought it was an interesting twist.
And it wasn't entirely pointless. Without that, Katniss might not have seen the need to do away with Coin. She might have had an entirely different response to the proposed last Games. That may be a stretch, but I don't think Prim dying was necessarily a negative to the story.
I will agree that the epilogue was rushed though. I would have liked a little more after the fact, but in the author's defense, the story was finished at that point. I'd much rather have an author end it abruptly, once everything is resolved than one who carries on for the sake of extending the story and effectively killing it.
As for Peeta, I think she loved him long before she married him. I also think she probably didn't understand - or was capable of understanding - the way a normal, functioning relationship should be. And who could really blame her? But I do think she loved him.
I think it made sense for her to wind up with Peeta. They both went through things together that no one else could understand.
No we didn't, but you did... I just said the endings should have switched, not what the ending was...
No, you said, "I'm just saying, Tris should have lived and Katniss should have died." Which means, yes, you switched the endings AND told us that you know who dies in Allegiant, by saying that Katniss should have died. By the way, I disagree COMPLETELY!
Beginning with the original post, this was clearly a comparison between the endings of Allegiant and Mockingjay. Anyone who doesn't want the ending of either ruined for them shouldn't be reading the discussion that ensued.
Well, I already knew, so I don't need protection from it. I was just stating that on the comments that he DOES actually spoil it. But, I agree, they don't have to read this either.
