I like your thoughts on this, Liam. I agree. Sean makes a point of telling us that he has designed a game, Trace Italian, that can not be figured out. I think that philosophy extends to the book itself.
I like your last paragraph Liam, however I don't agree with there always being something "evil/wrong" in him and I don't think John Darnielle believes in concepts like that or would write a character like that. I think people respond to their environments.
