Why not? I enjoyed both the books and the TV series, although they are very different. I'd happily read a modernised Holmes. I was even tempted to write one, although there are some thorny copyright issues to contend with.
I agree, Will. My favorite modernizations are the Schlock Homes parodies by Robert L. Fish. I've been tempted as well, but it would take time to do it right. Let me know if you ever do.
