Kathleen The unabridged version (1492 pages) is longer than the abridged (962 pages.)

Paul Darr a·bridge
1. shorten (a book, movie, speech, or other text) without losing the sense.

The abridged version is the shorter version.

Will M. Yes, I'm aware of the meaning of abridge, now, to get back to my question. How is this:

Different from this:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Clearly the 630 pages is the "unabridged" one, because it's stated on the cover. The 1463 pages on the other hand, what is it?

Paul Darr Will I was replying to your follow up question: "Hmm the abridged version is way longer right?"

The question indicated you did not understand the difference between abridged and unabridged or maybe you just mistyped?

The Signet Classic version is an unabridged edition that is 1488 pages long.

The Practical Scholarship edition you linked to is an abridged version and has been condensed down to 630 pages by an editor. Those are the primary differences.

Will M. Woops that was a huge typo there Paul, thanks. I meant to say, but the abridged version looks longer (pertaining to 1463), and to explain why I thought that was the abridged version, continue reading this comment.

but the 630 thingy stated that it was "complete and unabridged" on the cover, that brought confusion on my part. I think I'm missing something here. Thanks for the clarification. I'm gonna have to buy the unabridged version too, soon.

Paul Darr Will I just checked the Amazon listing for the book and I see that many other readers were tricked by the cover. It does in fact say "complete and unabridged" on the cover when it is actually an abridged version. There are several irate reviews about that on Amazon.

Will M. Paul: Now I'm really annoyed at them. Never buying an enriched classic ever again. It was the only one available then so I though why not? Never again though. Thanks Paul!
