Claire Ladds is a UK author of psychological literary fiction and short stories. Her work spans a range of genres and tones, from the emotional and introspective to the dark-edged and suspenseful.

Claire's writing is character-driven, exploring the murky depths of the psyche. She enjoys delving into the morally grey thoughts, actions and emotions of her characters, forcing them to confront their own realities. Claire is the author of several novels, including THE SECRETS THAT HAUNT US, HERS OR MINE, and the DARKER MINDS series.

Claire's short fiction has been published in literary and commercial magazines, and in anthologies. Her short story collection, THE REASON FOR EVERYTHING, houses a number of her prize- and competition-winning stories.

Claire Ladds Readers’ Club News: August 2025

Anyone who has followed my work for a while will know that I tend to start at the end of a project, knowing where my characters are going and then figuring out how to get them there. This project is no different. I have been working hard on the last quarter of the novel (this may seem like a bizarre way of working to some, but it seems to work for me).
