My latest book is Sojourn.

It's actually the first one that I wrote before embarking on the Dark District series with "Take Me Now" as the first story in that series.

It was inspired by a local comic called Trese, which told of this girl named Alexandra Trese, who owns a bar called the Diabolical, in downtown Manila, and who combats the city's Supernatural threats along with her two loyal bodyguards, a pair of half-breed Aswang twins.

It gave the reader something familiar and yet it was new as it opened my eyes to urban fantasy and that it was indeed possible to have one in a local setting. The writing was done about after a year of my father's death in 2007 and later was submitted to be part of a writing workshop called Strange Lit. It was part of the Darkest Dreams bundle released thru Buqo books.

Later I went back and revised and expanded it and this is the book you currently are reading.(less)

But listening to audiobooks and my on-air work certainly both helps me in finding the right tone and voice when I read back my own work or when I record my own work for audiobook.

I have no doubt that should I get into dictation, my on-air work and its benefits will certainly come into play.(less)

"Decimate is Christopher Rice at his best. It's a mash up of genres, including Science Fiction and Paranormal Horror, while also exploring themes of the afterlife, grief, and dysfunctional family dynamics due to trauma and addiction. To say this book " Read more of this review »

“Most people don’t get their soul mates in their designated lifetime or if ever they do, they let them go. It doesn’t matter to me who you are, who you love, as long as they love you back. That is what’s important. The world seems to have forgotten that and have conducted themselves all based on the concept of love that is both selfish, misguided and outdated. And if the world saw what we see, things would be a whole lot better.”
C.J. Edmunds, #StrangeLit: Darkest Dreams

“They say when you consciously are in search of something then that means you are ready.”

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.”
Bernard M. Baruch

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
Mahatma Gandhi

“A room without books is like a body without a soul.”
Marcus Tullius Cicero

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
H. Jackson Brown Jr., P.S. I Love You

“So many books, so little time.”
Frank Zappa
