Robert MacArthur, commonly known as the Babe, rugby football star in The Pothunters and The Babe and the Dragon. Like most Scotsmen, he can play football more than a little. Captain of St Austin's fifteen in The Manoeuvres of Charteris, Harrison's Slight Error. A day boy, lives with his parents in a big house about a mile from the College. Becomes a boarder in The Babe and the Dragon, moves into Merevale's to avoid Dacre - whom he thinks rather a rotter - and Dacre's fiancee Florence Beezley.
