Seth Seabright

Seth Seabright is a character in Michelle Butler Hallett's novel deluded your sailors. Born 1976, Flannery Point, Republic of NL, Seth first appears, unnamed, in Sky Waves. Fair, blue-eyed. Actor and writer. Considered a hard case. Practising Roman Catholic. Alcoholic. Seth, like many of Butler Hallett’s characters, struggles with his own past, and with others’ expectations, as he tries to live a meaningful life. Abused as a child by his father, Seth has difficulties with trust, older males, and self-loathing. When drinking, he can be a mercenary prick, interested only in his own immediate pleasure. He is also phenomenally gifted, and, under a shield of surliness, thoughtful and kind. At the end of deluded your sailors, Seth is walking towards both drying out facing his demons. Grace reveals itself around Seth, often violently.
