Amy Sullivan
aliases
Cucumber
Sister of James "Big Jim" Sullivan and sometime owner of Molly. At the beginning of the novel, she is about nineteen, but does not become a major character until she is twenty-one. She is described as being somewhat taller than average and very thin with shoulder-length red hair and "unnaturally-colored" green eyes.
Amy and her parents were in a car accident when she was fourteen years old. Amy was left with back problems and a severely injured left hand that eventually had to be amputated. Both of her parents died in the accident, and she was psychologically scarred.
The accident was shortly before she began her freshman year of high school. She was put on pain pills and Welbutrin, and was given numerous surgeries on her back and her hand. She was not told before the surgery that her hand would have to be amputated; she went into it thinking that they were making one last attempt to save the hand. Needless to say this didn't do very much for her already-unstable mental health.
