I'm only halfway through The Diary of Anne Frank, but I can honestly say--not out of pity--that this book is beautiful. Not everyone will enjoy Anne Frank's diary because it is pretty heavy reading, but four out of five people will (because, you knowI'm only halfway through The Diary of Anne Frank, but I can honestly say--not out of pity--that this book is beautiful. The writer is very talented and inspirational and although many people have described Anne as "whiny" I don't think she's that at all. If I had a diary then I would be complaining about things no matter how petty they are! For some, writing is like therapy and I believe the diary was Anne's and thus the pages withhold a lot of negativity because nobody wants to hear you rave on about how marvelous your life is! (Even it was written during World War II and so she didn't really need to try and prevent herself from going on about how great her day was, but that's beside the point.)
Reading this story is like entering someone else's mind which is extremely entertaining, if I do say so myself.
Anyway, I am humongous fan of history (I would title myself as a historian) so reading this book did spark my interest. Reading old vocabulary and learning about what people did seventy years ago and how they spoke and the things they acquired is lovely and I honestly cannot put this book down! Very scared to read the ending, though.
Highly recommended to whomever enjoys reading these types of books. Yours, Eve it's a Diary of Anne Frank thing....more
