I can say with confidence that no, this book has nothing that would make an 1800s lady blush. The author, Amanda Grange is very meticulous about keeping the book as close to the original source, "Pride and Prejudice" as possible. Jane Austen is my favorite author and when I first came upon all the continuing Darcy stories I found 90% of them were basically trashy romance novels, containing none of the original eloquence of P&P. Honestly they should name them 50 Shades of Darcy they are that bad. Though I have found two authors that actucully write like the time period and have a story not just vulgar topics. Amanda Grange being the first with her Diary's of the mens point of view, and Marsha Altman who wrote over 12 books about the adventures of Darcy and Bingley's families. If you liked P&P give Altman a try you won't be disappointed! (less)

The story takes us to places we couldn't in Pride and Prejudice when we were looking through Elizabeth 's eyes. Such as, when Bingley and Darcy go to London for the winter. In P&P we had no idea how they we're getting along because Elizabeth was back at Longbourne, but now we get to see conversations that help us better understand Darcys reasonings for separating Jane and Bingley.

Its really hard for someone to write exactly as they did back in the 1800s. But I think the author gets pretty close. Its a lot easier to understand than P&P. Just because of the words being used back then aren't always commonplace now. (less)

Let me tell you that is extremely hard to do and I believe the author did a pretty bang up job! (less)
