The first Hilda story seems to have originally been named Hildafolk, and later changed to Hilda and the Troll. Nobrow and Flying Eye are essentially the same company (Flying Eye focusing on children's books). It seems future publications are by Flying Eye, so the Hilda #1 that you'll want to select to match future publications is the Flying Eye version (ISBN 1909263788). This is if you're opting for paperbacks as I did.(less)

While the text is fairly simple, the content in this series is really rich. The background elements, art, and social interactions are certainly relatable and easier for an older child to pick up. The folklore depth might also be of interest to a middle grader audience like your daughter. There are also chapter books now if the meat of the text is just a little too light for her interest.(less)
