So die-hard Bowie fans love this book. But for someone like me, who has spent my life not paying much attention to him, and who knows maybe five Bowie songs, is it overkill? I'm interested in reading a biography because I'm getting an inkling that he's a pretty damn fascinating person, and I'd like to know more about him. But I don't know that a gruesomely detailed blow-by-blow account of his career is going to do it.

I really want to read a David Bowie book. I think this is the one! I understand that it talks a lot about Bowie's music, but does it talk about Bowie himself, outside of the music? I am a die-hard Bowie fan. I don't want to be disappointed by lack of information, though I see this has quite a lot of pages. (And how long would it take an average-to-fast reader to read? I'm thinking of doing it for a school project.)
