Can memory of events past ever be reconstituted?That's one of the principal questions raised by Austerlitz's search of his history. All he manages to get are thousands of fragments which shatter our sense of identity.

Do you think the vocabulary, etc. in the original, german edition would be ok for a relative fluent speaker or ratter kind of difficult? xx

It's not the easiest thing to read, but as Tom said, not impossible. It does take a bit of intellectual effort in that it uses fragments of other languages too, but they are clear enough from the context.(less)
