Hi, I loved this book, Can you recommend me similar novels with young characters set in the 80's? Hopefully with a film version. It's for a literature course, thanks!

For a slightly older demographic, Bonfire of the Vanities, Tom Wolfe, Louis Auchincloss wrote a few books about "yuppies" as well, Diary of a Yuppie, etc.

The Last Days of Disco - Whit Stilman - But good luck finding a copy. I listened to this as an audiobook from the library in the early 2000s or late 1990s, possibly in cassette format, LOL. It has something to do with the movie, but is apparently only slightly related. As noted, almost impossible to find in any format other than the movie any more for some reason.(less)
