I have read books 1-6 of the Outlander series and am interested in reading this because Jamie Fraser is in it. Can I read this book without having read any other of the Lord John Grey books?

It was section 1 chapter 10 Punch and Judy. When Jamie first arrives in London and goes outside for a walk, Quinn approaches him and is wearing this jacket/coat and everyone stares at it.(less)

What could have possessed the soldiers travelling l to London with Jaime, to travel for days in close quarters with such a foul smelling being? A bath would have benefited all involved!

I believe that in some places baths were considered bad for one's health, as well, and to be avoided at all cost.
