Agree with all of the others - it is absolutely nothing like Hunger Games or Divergent. I enjoyed both of those books, but Laini Taylor's lyrical, lovely writing blows me away. Her imagination...I'd love to take a peek into her brain and see who/what lives there.

Also, try her book of short stories - Lips Touch Three Times. Talk about exquisite writing and storytelling...(less)

You just kind of have to stick with it because at the beginning it's going kind of fast and it's a little confusing with all the build up. I promise it gets better if you stick with it by the middle you can't stop reading and before you know it its over and you have to read the next one.(less)

They do not go into how he actually makes them, only that each tooth comes from a different species and stringing them together dictates the form they take, such as a leopard head, bat wings, human torso, etc. The stones represent things like strength and agility to make the new bodies more powerful. This is shown when Karou is taught Brimstone's trade and then makes a new body for her sister using the teeth and stones. This is a quote from the DofSB's wiki, "Brimstone resurrects bodies of fallen chimaera by placing their souls in new bodies created by teeth, and this allows them to keep up in the war against the seraphim. " Hope that helps!(less)
Su No, there are other people interested in the main character, but no love triangle! (Thankfully!) :)
