Rob at first is seen as charming, persuasive, and handsome even having Young describe him as his hero and saviour but as the book progresses we see more of his dark side. We see this through some of the flash-forwards at the beginning of every chapter and with some of the things he says and his actions as the book progresses. Overall Rob is definitely a wolf in sheep's clothing hiding who he truly is. (less)

If you are used to more classical literature where the characters are very complex and stories tell world building narratives you probably will think the book is simplistic. "Shattering Glass" is simplistic in a good way where after you finish the book you focus more and the climax, not on the overall story so If you are open to most literature you will most likely enjoy it. Yes, it’s violent and ruthless in the last two pages but that’s not the disturbing part within the pages of the book. The disturbing part is how society can mess up lives so terribly that it can create murders at will. I found that the book was intriguing but agonizingly slow to get to the point. There was a lot of unclear things that were vaguely cleared up within the chapters. But overall, I find the book’s perception on society horrifically accurate. (less)
