How was the language and sexual content of this book?

Th…moreThere are moments where the characters walk in on other characters mating (that's how they refer to it), and one of the characters is almost raped. The language isn't too bad. She makes up her own curse words.

You should also know that suicide is a big component of the novel as well, especially in the last quarter.(less)

There are contradictions, I think? Elder is speaking to Eldest (supposedly the oldest man on the ship, who is I believe 56) about the "Gens", and Eldest states that there are the 40-year olds and the 20-year olds. Yet in other spots we are told there are "Greys". WTH? Elder acts slightly ignorant about sex, yet during the season people are "mating" publicly. What did I miss, or is this an error?
