Allegedly, the problems were the portrayal of Asian characters with dashes for eyes and the proverb-spouting Master Wong character—that's all.

Needless to say, if you're an open-minded, liberal person who picked up this book without knowing it was 'banned', chances are you would have never guessed—it's a cheeky but harmless best-selling book by a best-selling author for children, after all. It's about as offensive, or non-offensive, as the original 'Karate Kid'. But so goes culture these days.

That said, if you're still looking for this book, there's a fair chance that a public library near you has this book available for checkout for free. Or if not, try visiting Open Library, as you may be able to find a digital version available for free online reading there.(less)

This book is a separate spin-off of the Captain Underpants series. As such, it's its own book and not really part of any series.

The book's ending had a promo for 'The Adventures of Ook and Gluk Jr: Kung Fu Cavekids in Outer Space' ("Coming Soon-ish"), but it doesn't look like it was ultimately published. Considering that it has since been self-cancelled by the author, it's pretty unlikely that there will be a second volume.(less)
