From beginning to end, C. L. James methodically tells the story of how the Haitian revolution was won. For me it appears that a kind of divine intervention may have made a successful revolution possible because of the overwhelming odds that the Haitian people endured to win their freedom. The Haitian story is hardly ever told and C. L. James puts everything into perspective with this compelling read?
