Trantor is not that close to the galaxy core - it is in the spiral arms.

This is mentioned in the book itself - there is an exchange between Pelorat and Trevize in Chapter 4. Trevize points out the Trantorian sun in the galaxy simulation and Pelorat asks, "Are you sure? They always speak of Trantor as being located in the center of the Galaxy."

Trevize replies: "It is as close to the center as a planet can get and still be habitable. The actual center of the galaxy is a blackhole with the mass of nearly a million stars, so the center is a violent place. As far as we know, there is no life in the actual center and there just can't be any life there. Trantor is in the innermost subring of the spiral arms, and if you could see its night sky, you would think it was in the center of the Galaxy. It is surrounded by an extremely rich clustering of stars."

So, in short, the answer to your question is, very bright night sky at Trantor with a high star density, no effects of the supermassive blackhole seen.(less)
