The book is anti-Catholic, repeatedly calling out the Church's teachings as one of the major points of global risk. It advocates a sex-positive culture change with free and easy abortion. Anti-eugenics people think it is pro-eugenics. Pro-eugenics people think it is anti-eugenics. It argues against the U.S. providing foreign aid but then argues for it spending more on different sorts of international programs. It proposed an imminent disaster. It has all the patronizing of the worst sort of leftist policies while holding goals more comfortable with rightward ones. It veers into soft conspiracy theory at times supposing at mysterious forces poisoning us.

But in light of Limits to Growth, I think that a lot is similar to modern jingle-jank about things like the Great Reset, Ida Auken, et cetera. It fits into a particular sort of conspiratorial thinking very well. (less)
