Is it necessary for me to have read the first 3 in order to appreciate Leo's story? I've heard this is the best of the series and I guess I'm not as patient as I like!

I have a question, why is Vanessa Darvin not Hathaway? If the titles are passed to males by paternal line, then her last name must be Hathaway too, wright? Also her mother in the book is named Countes Ramsey, should not she be Viscountess Ramsey? Like Evie, who was Viscountess St. Vincent?
