It is a good book, well written, you will probably enjoy reading it regardles of wether you'll finish the series. However you will be left with open ends and key questions that remain unanswered. If you want to know how it pans out you are going to have to suffer the 2nd book I am afraid. (You'll also need to read the other 4, but I am not sure (yet) if the term 'suffer' applies to those, i only just started book 4)

If you can find a summary of the second book somewhere my advise would be to just read that after this one and then pick up book 3.
