Just read this book.... cant stop wondering what was in the box that Vanadium was bringing to Victoria????

The burning question!... how were Junior and Barty connected? Was it only in the fact that Barty would eventually grow a mysterious connection and love with Junior's daughter? The fact that Junior spoke Barty's name in his sleep, on the night of Barty's birth, has me thinking that I am missing a bigger connection. The "Bartholomew" obsession has to be linked to Barty as well as Pastor White's sermon, right?

The first page of the book... "The man who tore the Lampion family's world apart, on the night of Barty's birth, had not been her enemy. He was a stranger, but the chain of his destiny shared a link with theirs." What does this mean? I assume this refers to Nick Deed, the man who hit Agnes' car. But how does his destiny share a link with theirs?

Had hoped I would like the reviews. Many love this. I am just not into reading such SAD books. Maybe another book by this author will be my way to try his writings. are all his books SO sad?
