White (it's in the public domain) for a Christian perspective and One Dharma by Joseph Goldstein for a Buddhist perspective.

As an active Christian and disciple of Christ who studies the holy word daily, and as a long-time student of Buddhism, I see Knitter's representations of both religions as highly subjective, ambiguous and misguided.

Don't get me wrong. Knitter is a wonderful writer and that's why I read this book almost twice, but his misunderstanding of the Godhead (Christianity) and emptiness (Buddhism) among other discrepancies made me DNF on the second pass.

Final note: Steps to Christ is truly excellent, but it stops before the essential ordinance of baptism. Should you read that book with an open heart and mind and follow it's instructions, baptism will be your next step (to Christ). (less)
