Let's face it - The countries with the highest rates of diabetes have high protein/fat diets. I'm not aware of any large cultures that have eaten high protein, high fat, low carb diets. The elite in ancient Egypt, Babylon, Greece and Rome seem to have done. Although there is evidence they, the kings and queens, nobles, priests, suffered many of the same health problems we have.

Typ…moreAccording to the book, individual results vary. There are a few people whose genetics really influence the problem and will still need medication. Type 1 diabetics often still need medication but may have lower doseages than they did before following Barnard's advice. Type 2 diabetics may see reduction in medications or be able to stop some/all medications. Prediabetics often can reduce or stop their medications.

Testimonials in the book also indicate some people obtain relief from symptoms such as neuropathy, eye problems, kidney problems, etc.
