Has anyone else read this gem? I live in Australia, and no one seems to know of it here. It is now my favourite ever book. It is a big call, but I say it with confidence. Never have I seen a fantasy world so quirky, imaginative, unexpected. Never have characters been so kooky, twisted, lovely, creepy. This book is utterly absent of platitudes and cliches. It is like nothing else. I don't know what else I can say!

Normally I read everything in English but since I read bluebear in Dutch I really want to read the rest in Dutch too. Only Bluebear, Rumo and City are translated in Dutch and they're quite hard to find.(less)

I'm really interested to know the original German names for the characters. I thought the English names were wonderful so it made me interested to know how much of the invention to credit to the translator. So I'm wondering if there is some Walter Moers tribute site that shows the original names side by side with the English. I'll be a-hunting
