Do I have to read/remember the plot of Things We Never Got Over to read this? I read it so long ago and remember absolutely nothing

With that being said, I think it’s more gratifying to remember all that transpired in Book 1. It is really important and leads to many plot points in Book 2. (less)

For those of you who have already read this, should I wait until #3 comes out before I do? I had to wait for #2 to be published, and feel like I need to go back and read number 1 again, because it's been awhile. I don't want to have to read #1 and #2 again before #3 comes out. So, what do you think? 1) do I need to re-read #1?; 2) do I need for #3 in September before reading #2?
