So you're right …moreI think the issue is that in these books, there is only one type of gay man depicted, whereas the heterosexual characters are varied. So you're right that there are horrible people no matter their sexual orientation, but Horowitz seems to only have horrible gay men in these stories. He isn't obligated to insert a happily married gay couple anywhere, but I do think he has to be mindful that the only time we read about gay sex in either book, it is connected to prostitution, exploitation, and kinky proclivities. Sounding that same note over and over again is troubling.(less)

But I would recommend it because a) it's a great book, and b) it would be very helpful to have the prior exposition of Alan Conway (the jerk) and Susan's back story. There are also a number of minor characters who reappear in Moonflower.(less)
