There really was never any evidence that the two girls …moreI saw that two answers had to do with her love for Livia, but that answer doesn't work for me. There really was never any evidence that the two girls were in love romantically. That was one of Frankie's speculations, as well as they were good friends. At the end of the book, Angelique says that she loved Livia, but teenagers always say they love their friends, so that cannot be considered proof. I am more inclined to think that she made a mistake initially, trying to help Livia, and then got caught up in something she had no idea would go so bad. It did ring false, since she was such a determined student.(less)

I was confused as to who Paul was. I thought all along it was someone she loved and they were together and she left him. But then towards the end I thought maybe he was her sponsor. That character was confusing to me. Who was he supposed to be?
