La Belle Sauvage (Book of Dust book 1) takes place when Lyra is a baby and book 2 The Secret Commonwealth takes place when Lyra is 20 (so 20 years after La Belle Sauvage and 7 years after end of The Amber Spyglass). Not sure about where book 3 fits in yet although I'd assume it will be after the events of The Secret Commonwealth.(less)

Is this the only other spin-off book, or should I read "Once Upon a Time in the North" and "The Collectors" as well?

caro Now they are 2 spin-off, this one and another one. The ones that you mention are prequels.

My copy of Lyra's Oxford (pub Nov.2021) illustrated by Chris Wormell, lacks the street map of Oxford that the original 2003 red cloth bound addition has. Is that right or have I got a dud copy ? There is room for the map on the page opposite the page showing the location of Oxford in England, this is entirely blank apart from a few birds flying across one corner. Many thanks.
