Th…moreI don’t have an answer for you, but I remember that being said about Berg and I was reading this book waiting for something Berg-related to happen. The only thing I can think of is that by saving Berg, Uthred becomes good friends/allies with Egil, which doesn’t necessarily lead to the forming of England but it does help Uthred in a few situations.(less)
