The first ipod came out in 2001 but it took several years after that for it to gain enough popularity that everyone wanted one. So yes portable cd players were still around in 2004. I'd like to know if Claire continues on with her ex-husband. It really annoyed me in the first book, and I can't continue the series if she's going to be so wishy-washy after so many years. Though I know it might make a story interesting, it's not what I really like, thanks.
