Are these books as hilarious as "Azumanga Daioh"? I love "Azumanga", so I don't want this to dissapoint me. Is this any good? (I hope it is!)

Karen Yotsuba is excellent if you like gentle humour! It is particularly funny if you know how little children behave.

Someone PLEASE explain to me WHY this is such a beloved and top rated manga, yet it has never been a completely and consistently released title. Even the website says vol. 12 comes out in 2013. Ummmm what?

Does this series have any explicit or inappropriate content?

Is it necessary to read the volume in order to get the story, or is this like an episodic kind of comics, so the reading order is not relevant?

So I've never read manga before... but I've always been curious about them. Do you think this is a good book choice for a first time manga reader?
